The support. I have seen and heard a lot about many lenders out there. The level of resources, support and true dedication to the success of their employees is second to none at SMP. Closely related to that is the culture of true partnership- when one team member succeeds, we all do. I can see how the company got its name!
I learned the industry, how to communicate with the different players and perhaps most importantly, the crucial role of relationships in succeeding in the mortgage business.
Lauren’s Start in the Mortgage Industry
My dear Uncle Mike brought me into the business. He was a big player in the mortgage industry in NY. He hired me to work for his company in 2009 after the market crash. The company was Continental Home Loans. We weren’t sure what my role would be or where it would lead, but I am forever grateful for the opportunity I was given back then. I learned the industry, how to communicate with the different players and perhaps most importantly, the crucial role of relationships in succeeding in the mortgage business. I went on to run the HR & Recruiting Dept there for about 6 years, until we merged with a larger company (Freedom Mortgage) and my role shifted to exclusively recruiting . My uncle is no longer with us but left such a big impact on my career and countless others that worked for and with him.
Education
Penn State! Shout out to the Nittany Lions! I majored in communication there and really enjoyed the fun, football town atmosphere and being part of a large community there. I’m always excited to connect with other alums either recruiting or in personal life.
Family
Married to my amazing husband Matt for 14 years. Our two wild and crazy boys (11 & 8 yrs old) keep us busy! The family is at the beach any time we get a chance! We love to go camping on beautiful beaches of Long Island where we live. Any opportunity to see the sunrise and sunset is amazing!

Interests and Hobbies
Running. I love starting my morning with an early run with friends before the sun rises. I am part of a local running club, and we have different courses for different days of the week. On the weekend, I try to squeeze in a longer run, especially when training for a race. My husband joins me sometimes too!
